Impairment of receptive/expressive language
Common from CVA, head trauma, tumor or infection
Fluent and non-fluent aphasia
Fluent aphasia
Also known as Wernick's aphasia
Lesion of superior temporal and superior gyrus

Impaired comprehension and writing skills
Motor impairment is not typical
Involves temporal and parietal lobe of brain
Able to communicate but with no real substance behind it
Non-fluent aphasia
Involves frontal lobe
Difficulty with communication
Also known as Broca's aphasia

Lesion of frontal lobe
Common form of aphasia
Intact comprehension
Motor impairments are common
Global aphasia
Both Wernick's and Borca's
Lesion of frontal, parietal, and temporal lobe
Typically lesions on left side of brain
