Phases of Wound Healing
  1. Haemostasis
    1. AIM: prevent further bleeding by creating blood clots
      1. Vessel constriction --> Platelet plug --> Fibrin plug
      2. Acute Inflammation
        1. Neutrophils + Macrophages remove debris from injury
          1. Clinical signs of inflammation present
          2. Proliferation
            1. Granulation tissue formation + Replacement of epithelial cells
              1. Macrophages produce growth factors --> proliferation of epithelial cells + fibroblasts
                1. Restores normal function & structure
                2. Wound Maturation & Remodelling
                  1. When inflammation has finished & new tissue has formed
                    1. Granulation tissue is replaced by mature connective tissue
