Forces-Moving Around
  1. See-Saw!!
    1. Pivot movement
      1. To balance a pivot
        1. Weight=1N
          1. Distance from pivot=0.1m
            1. Moment=0.1Nm
            2. Equal moments

              Anotações:

              • Moments are the same as The Turning Effect!Turning Effect is the point where the weights on either end of the pivot become balanced.
              1. moments(Nm)=Force(N) x Distance from Pivot (m)
                1. example= 1Nx0.2m=0.2Nm
                  1. example= 2Nx0.1m=0.2Nm
                    1. Balanced
              2. A BIG force and a small distance from pivot
                1. Balances...
                  1. A small force that's a long distance from the pivot
              3. Circular Forces
                1. Cause
                  1. A force pulling object towards the centre as they move, when balanced with Gravity, so they move circularly
                    1. Centrifugal/Centripetal Force
                    2. It is Pulled tight...
                      1. Tension in the string
                        1. Tension is an upward force in the string that balances the downward force of the weight of the object on the end
                          1. Faster
                            1. Height of 'bung' increases
                              1. The width of the circle made increases
                              2. The tension in the string increases as the speed does too
                            2. Swinging!!
                              1. length of pendulum
                                1. The shorter the pendulum the faster it completes a period!
                                  1. Why?
                                    1. It is naturally closer to the ground so it can travel faster as has less forces acting on it and has less distance to travel a full period.
                                      1. Less Air Resistance
                                  2. Fastest
                                    1. When it is closest to the ground
                                      1. The force of Gravity is at it's strongest-Less forces acting on the object
                                  3. Falling
                                    1. 2 Balls regardless of their weight will hit the ground at the same time
                                      1. A greater surface area=Longer to fall
                                        1. Why?
                                          1. More Space for Air resistance to take effect.
                                            1. More Air Particles hit the surface and stop it accelerating.
                                              1. Bigger the Surface=Less acceleration to No acceleration
                                            2. Closer to ground=Faster to fall
                                              1. Why?
                                                1. There is less air resistance so more acceleration
                                              2. Moon has no atmosphere so no matter their weight or surface area they will still hit the surface of the moon at the same time
                                                1. Parachuter
                                                  1. Not open parachute straight away as they would float like a feather (no acceleration)
                                                    1. They make a large area so they don't fall too fast.
                                                    2. Once they reach Terminal Velocity they release their parachute.

                                                      Anotações:

                                                      • Terminal Velocity/Speed is the point when an object is falling and the gravitional pull and the air resistance are balanced and the object stays at the same speed not accelerating/decelerating
                                                      1. Once released they decrease their speed fast
                                                        1. They then reach Terminal Velocity/Speed again before they land
                                                    3. Equation
                                                      1. Weight(N)=Mass(kg)xGravity(10)
                                                    4. Pressure
                                                      1. Area of Contact
                                                        1. Small area of contact has a larger pressure than a large force
                                                        2. Snow shoes
                                                          1. They spread the weight out of a person so less pressure is exerted on the snow so a person doesn't get stuck in deep snow
                                                          2. Equation
                                                            1. Pressure=Force/Area
