Buoyancy
  1. Definition: The upward force exerted by fluid to counterbalance the weight of an object.
    1. Archimedes' Principle
      1. Founded by Archimedes of Syracuse
        1. Buoyancy = Weight of displaced fluid
        2. 3 Classes of Buoyancy
          1. Sink. In this state, the object weight is larger than the upward force by the fluid, causing it to sink.
            1. Neutral Buoyancy. In this state, an object neither floats nor sink in a fluid.
              1. Upthrust. In this state, the body is buoyant that it floats.
              2. Useful Equation
                1. F = Ahpg
                  1. Where F is buoyant force, A is the surface area, h is the immersed height of the body, g is gravity and p is density of the fluid.
                2. Below: Image detailing how buoyancy is determined on an object by its mass, gravity and density of fluid.
                  1. Industrial Application
                    1. Transportation, such as ships and aircraft.
                      1. Safety equipment, such as buoy, to be used during an air crash, or during the safety offshore training.
