Measuring and Reading Recipes
- Measuring spoons come in 4 different
sizes: tablespoon, teaspoon, 1/2
teaspoon, and 1/4 teaspoon.
- Measuring cups are used to measure dry or solid ingredients
- Come in sets of 4, 5 or 6 and they all include 1
cup, 1/2 cup, 1/3 cup, and 1/4 cup but,
sometimes you'll see 3/4 cup and 2/3 cup
- Liquid should be measured in measuring pitchers.
- One side has ounce and cup measurements and
the other side has liters and milliLiters
- There are three teaspoons in one tablespoon and four tablespoons in 1/4 cup
- Zero out bowl measurements
when using a scale so you don't
get the wrong measurements
- Recipe is divided into three sections
- Top has the name of the recipe, maybe the oven temperature
if it needs it, and the quantity (sometimes called the yield)
- The middle has the ingredients you will need
- The bottom has the directions to
make the recipe successful
- Follow the directions exactly
