Frage Antworten
How does the firing rate differ between nuclear bag fibers and nuclear chain fibers? A bag fiber will have elevated firing rate when the muscle is moving and will go back to normal when it stops moving. A chain fiber will have elevated firing rate while the muscle is stretched and remain elevated the whole time it is stretched.
What is the purpose of the fusimotor system? It keeps the muscle spindle tout allowing it to still sense movements when the muscle changes length. It also effects the sensitivity of the muscle spindle.
What nerve fiber is connected to the Golgi tendon organ? Type Ib
What type of tension can the golgi tendon organ sense? Active muscle tension.
What do joint receptors detect. What is the problem with them? Changes of joint angle. They are not very sensitive to changes in joint angle.
What is proprioception? Our innate ability to detect where our limbs are without visual information.
What does proprioception detect? What does kinesthesia detect? Proprioception detects the actual position of the limb while kinesthesia allows the detection of limb movement. this is much easier than proprioception.
Give the three types of mechanoreceptors. Muscle spindles, Golgi-tendon organs and Joint receptors
Where are muscles spindles found? Fleshy part of the muscle.
Give the two types of muscle spindle, are they high or low in numbers, what does each of them detect? Nuclear bag fibers - detect muscle movement, low numbers. Nuclear chain fibers, detect muscle length, high numbers.
Where is the primary ending found? what nerve type is attaches to this part of the muscle spindle? In the middle, its attached to type Ia
What nerve attaches to secondary endings of a nerve fiber? Type IIa
