Frage Antworten
what is the auditory reaction time? 100-150ms
How can we localize sound? the difference between time it hits one ear and then the other. Difference in loudness from when it ones side then the other. (influenced by frequency, low frequency blocked less than high frequency). Our auricle can also block some sounds coming from behind working in the same way as the head to aid sound localisation.
what is the problem with sound localisation? we rely on expectations, so if these are changed we cant localize something as well. Things such as echos might influence this.
Describe how hearing would be affected by an acute exposure to loud sounds? We would see a temporary notch in hearing which recovers quickly.
What amplitude does the ear work best at for distinguishing between pitches. Lower amplitude
The ____ the auditory stimuli the quicker the reaction time. Larger
How long does sound take to cross one meter? 3 ms
What area of the brain detects speech? Wernickles speech area
What is the area of the brain which decides what we need to say? Borcas speech area.
