What happens to our force response when we numb the skin receptors. What does this show about the skin receptors in relation to force maintenance? | It is significantly reduced, shows that skin receptors play a large role in force detection. |
What is the defining feature of a basaltic feedback system? | We get no feedback. |

What is the difference between ballistic feedback system and a parametric feed forward system. | Ballistic control has no feedback while parametric feed forward includes some adjustment of noise before the movement is started. |

What is the difference between parametric feed forward and parametric feedback system? | Feed forward requires anticipation of what will happen then adjusting for it. Feedback uses information from what happens last time (i.e. the extent of the error) which we then use to change our movement for next time. |

Describe the difference between parametric feedback system and a direct online feedback system. | parametric feedback system can only apply feedback and therefore correction in the next movement e.g. the second dart throw. Direct online feedback system allows systems to be automatically and continuously adapted to reach the required response, however it is a very slow process so much be used for things such as BP or glucose levels. |

Give a summary of a internal feedback system. | We use experiences to make predictions rather than rely on slow sensory information. We control the model of the controller, not the controller directly. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual response with the required response |
what is the simple servo hypothesis? | The way we change the length of the muscle spindles using gamma activation instead of directly chancing the muscles via alpha activation. so the gamma activation causes muscle spindles to change size which then causes an impulse to travel to the spinal cord and then down the alpha motor unit to the muscles where they muscles are affected. |
What is the difference in function between alpha and gamma nerves? | Alpha control muscle force while gamma controls muscle length. |
