Frage Antworten
What is linear motion? Movement where all parts of an object travel the same distance in the same direction at the same time
What is a scalar quantity? Something that is only considered in terms of size or magnitude
What is a vector quantity? Something considered in terms of both magnitude and direction
Give 3 examples of scalar quantities 1. Speed 2. Distance 3. Mass
Give 6 examples of vector quantities 1. Velocity 2. Acceleration 3. Weight 4. Momentum 5. Displacement 6. Impulse
Define speed and how it is calculated A body's movement per unit of time. Distance ➗time = speed (m/s)
Define velocity and how it calculated The speed of a body in a given direction Displacement ➗ time = velocity (m/s)
Define acceleration and how it is calculated The rate of change in velocity Velocity ➗ time = acceleration (m/s^2)
Define mass The quantity of matter that a body possesses (Kg)
Define weight and how it is calculated The force of gravity exerted on the mass of a body Mass ✖️ gravity = weight (newtons)
Define distance and how it is calculated The measure of a path travelled by an object Speed ✖️ time = distance (m)
Define displacement The shortest possible route from A to B in s straight line
Define momentum and how it is calculated The amount of motion a body possesses Mass ✖️velocity = momentum (Kgms)
Define impulse and how it is calculated The length of time a force is applied to an object, relating to a change in momentum Force ✖️time
