Why can contractures? Muscles becoming stuck due to lack of full ROM and poor positioning of the residual limb.
Why can DVT occur? These are blood clots and is usually because of the anatomical change of the residual limb which increases the risk of a DVT.
Why can hypersensitivity be a problem? This could delay fitting for the prosthetic. Use techniques like desensitization during intervention.
What is nuroma? Bundle of nerves the grouped together after surgery which can cause pain from scar tissue or tension from the prosthetic.
What is phantom limb? When the patient feels that the limb is still there
What is phantom limb pain? When the patient experiences pain where the limb no longer exist. Use modailities such as TNES and desensitization techniques.
What are the psychological impacts after surgery? Depression, grief, or suicidal feelings.
What is the 1# thing we look out for after surgery. Infection
