   Nota:

   • Brief pieces of information being stored before being stored in long term or forgotten

      Nota:

      • a more permanent place to store memories

• Relies on state ex. someone who is drunk won't remember where he put his keys the night before

• mood is transferred with memory

Nota:

• A clear event that has emotional significance

Nota:

• growing old

1. Encoding failure

   Nota:

   • brain fails to encode a piece of information
2. Storage Decay

   Nota:

   • Memories slowly dissipate but levels off around 25 years
3. Retrieval failure

   Nota:

   • failure to retrieve a memory
