  1. Distributed
    1. Have Rest Intervals
      1. Good for skill learning - beginners with low motivation and fitness
        1. Good for continuous skills e.g. swimming
          1. Advantages
            1. Allows time to recover
              1. Gives the learner opportunity to recieve feeback
                1. Maintains motivation
                  1. Rests allow mental practise
                  2. Disadvantages
                    1. Fatigue could result in injury
                      1. Re-introduce the skill every time after a break
                    2. Variable
                      1. Best for open skills
                        1. Involves repeating a skills in varying situations
                          1. Advantages
                            1. Open skils
                              1. Builds up schema
                                1. Develops perception and decision making skills
                                  1. Allows learner to overload
                                    1. Selective attention is increased
                                    2. Disadvantages
                                      1. Time consuming
                                        1. Not suitable for closed skills
                                          1. Situation may not be relavent to stage of learning
                                        2. Mental Rehearsal
                                          1. Goes through movement in head
                                            1. No physical movement
                                              1. Advanatges
                                                1. Cognitive learner would benefit
                                                  1. Advances tactics
                                                    1. Reduces anxiety and settles nerves
                                                      1. Increases self confidence - self evaluation
                                                      2. Disadvantages
                                                        1. Over analyse - negative effect
                                                          1. Gross motor skills are not affected by mental rehearsal
                                                            1. Should not replace practical practise
                                                          2. Fixed
                                                            1. Environment stays the same
                                                              1. Same movement is practised each time
                                                                1. Practise is repetitve
                                                                  1. Advantages
                                                                    1. Closed Skills
                                                                      1. Require specific movements
                                                                        1. Kinaesthesis is developed
                                                                        2. Disadvantages
                                                                          1. Negative effect if the skills is practised wrong
                                                                        3. Massed
                                                                          1. Without breaks
                                                                            1. Motivation is high
                                                                              1. Simple skills
                                                                                1. Advantages
                                                                                  1. Good for grooving habitual skills
                                                                                    1. Good for high experienced performers
                                                                                      1. Can save time - no need to be re-introduced
                                                                                      2. Disadvantages
                                                                                        1. Beginners - lack of concentration
                                                                                          1. Fatigue and de-motivation
                                                                                            1. Not suitable for dangerous skills
