Epidemiology
1. Environmental factors such as high temperature
Occupational hazards. E.g repeated handwashing
Prevalence: 55.6% in 2 ICU's, 69.7% in most highly exposed workers
Pathophysiology
Skin Barrier disruption
Release of cytokin
Epidural cellular changes
Risk factors: Workers who handle irritants are at high risk. They include Nurses, artists, cleaners, coal miners etc.
Diagnosis: Contact dematitis can be determined by clinical examination so no specific tests are necessary
Clinical presentations
Dryness

Cracking of the skin
Skin inflammation
Adapting responses to Alterations
Repeated irritation causes hardening or accommodated skin
