end of 4th week OUT: formn of tail upper limb buds BRAIN: forebrain produces a prominent elevation of the head and folding of into C-shaped • neuropores closed EYE: lens placode develops (future lens) HEART: forms a large ventral prominence and PUMPS BLOOD pharyngeal arches III and IV yolk sac separation
5th week The main changes are in the head region BRAIN: • growth of brain vesicles NOSE: • nasal pits OUT: • upper and lower limb buds form hand/foot plates
6th week OUT: • face formation • upper limbs differentiation (elbow, digital rays - the primordia of fingers) BRAIN: • head growth, bents over the large heart prominence EYE: • retinal pigment is formed, the eye is visible EAR: • six auricular hillocks around the 1st groove
7 OUT: • upper limbs elongate and are on the heart prominence EYE: • eyelids primordia MOUTH: • formation of the teeth primordia GUT: • the intestines enter the umbilical cord forming the umbilical herniation
OUT: • fingers are free • tail disappears • face is formed EAR: • auricles are developed BRAIN: • head is 1/2 of the embryo
