Components Of Physical Fitness
- Cardiovascular Fitness, is the ability
of the heart, bloodcells and lungs to
supply oxygen-rich blood to the
working muscle tissues and the
ability of the muscles to use oxygen
to produce energy for movement
- e.g. running long distances
- Muscular Endurance is the
ability to move your body or
an object repeatedly without
getting tired.
- For most activities, you
use both muscular
strength and
endurance
- Speed, the rate at which somone or
somthing moves or operates or is able
to move or operate.
- e.g. Cycling or Swimming
- Power, the ability to excert a maximal
force in as short a time as possible, as
in accelerating, jumping and throwing
implements. while strength is the
maximal force you can apply against a
load, power is proportional to the
speed at which you can apply this
maximal force
- e.g. . Jumping or The Start of a sprint
- Power= Speed x Strength
- Aerobic Endurance, is the ability
to exercerise continuously for
extended periods without fatigue
- Repetative, moderate to high intensity
movement for a prolonged period of
time.
- Body Composition, In physical fitness,
body composition is used to describe the
percentages of fat, bone, water and
muscle in human bodies.
- Because muscular tissue takes
up less space in our body than
fat tissue, our body composition,
as well as our weight,
determines leanness
- Muscular Strength, is defined as the
maximum amount of force that a
muscle can excert against some form
of resistance in single effort.
- Holding or restraining an object or person
- Flexibility, the capacity of a
joint or muscle to move
through its full range of
motion.
- Flexibility is specific to a
particular movement or
joints, and the degree of
flexibility can vary around the
body.
